One Hundred Years 2020

Finished Collagraph Print 31” x 42”

Finished Collagraph Print 31” x 42”

This is a very simple image with a building centered on a large background. The drawing also has a tree. It was started as a preliminary drawing but not finished until after the plate was done and printed. It's May 5, 2020 now 10 days or so after the first print was done and at this point I have no intention of changing the plate.

The house is an obvious symbol for shelter and protection, but to me it also represents strength, survival and continuation. It is a dark image and the house is fading, merging with the background. I’m working on the image during the coronavirus pandemic. I have fear and I'm staying at home and in the studio most of the time, occasionally going shopping or for a walk.

Title One Hundred Years because the drawing was finished May 4, 2020, the day my mom would have been 100.
